Jaden Estes Carlson

3rd Year

Born and raised in rural Nebraska, Jaden Estes Carlson graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney’s Art Education program in 2020 where she received her Bachelor of Art Education degree. Immediately after graduation, Jaden packed up her family and relocated to Saegertown, PA to enroll in Edinboro University's Ceramics Master of Fine Arts program. Jaden’s work explores relationships between form, texture, and color. Inspired by the growing pains and pleasures of life, Jaden uses hand-building techniques to pinch to life architectural forms. Jaden has multiple pieces on display at the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus.

Elliot Hong

2nd Year

Elliott Mai Hong is a functional ceramic artist from Saigon, Vietnam, living and working in Saint George, Utah since 2017. Having received high honors, Elliott graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Ceramic and Sculpture from Dixie State University (21).

In his time in Southern Utah, Elliott worked closely with the College of the Arts, contributing his time as a studio technician and teaching assistant. Each summer, he volunteered in community-led pottery businesses in his hometown.

His goal is to elevate folk pottery aesthetics and make them more approachable and accessible to the public. To recall the diverse variety of textures and colors encountered in his country of origin, he is presently invested in the recreation of weathered ceramic surfaces through means of material inclusion, slip decoration, and atmospheric firings.
